Kiki is the endearing nickname my father gave me when I was a little girl. It fits who I am to a tee. I was raised a stone’s throw from the countryside in the Central Valley of California, and I love wide open spaces and rambling forests. My favorite childhood memories include camping under the redwoods in Big Basin State Park in the Santa Cruz Mountains and hiking by the ocean at Patrick’s Point on the northernmost coast of California. In my free time, you can find me exploring parks and gardens, or playing guitar.
I first started playing guitar at age 12. love recording music at home in a low-tech way, either on a 4-track recorder or a simple microphone hooked up to my computer. In college, I recorded music under the name The Rain Project, because I would record for hours on rainy days.
Playing guitar is my safe place, the thing I love to do when no one’s looking. I used to play in public as part of band, but realized that it wasn’t for me. I hope to post some recordings here soon. My favorite artists are Jose Gonzalez, Gregory Alan Isakov, Sonya Cotton, and anything bluesy, jazzy, folksy or R&B.
